Starting a business during the pandemic might seem like a bold move — but three years later, Anita Pokrovska, founder of MATCH agency, is confident: rapid change only made the team stronger. And one of the key partners throughout this journey has been MŪKU SALA — not just as a space, but as a collaborative force.
MATCH is a full-service communications agency founded in 2020. We help clients with marketing, advertising, and communication solutions — from strategy and content to digital marketing tools and campaign support.

“The core of our company is the team. Most of us have worked together for nearly a decade. Before launching the agency, we’d already been colleagues at two other companies and worked together on countless projects. Opening our own business felt like a natural next step — we simply didn’t want to work without each other. Each of us is an expert in our field — market research, strategy, creative concepts, design, or copywriting — which lets us offer a wide range of services.”

Lessons from wrong moves and the right results

Starting a business — and doing it mid-pandemic — came with its share of trial and error. “We made every possible mistake, but looking back, all of them brought us to where we are now,” Anita says. “In our first year, we sent ideas and strategy decks to brands we liked. Most of the time, we heard things like, ‘We already work with an agency’ or ‘We don’t have budget for this.’ Many simply weren’t ready to trust a brand-new agency.” What kept them going was persistence — constant learning, research, and experimentation.

Today, MATCH works with both B2B and B2C clients — especially those exporting products or looking to grow their distributor and retail network in Europe and the U.S. Our most requested services include communication and content strategy, brand building, and community support. “We’ve always focused more on the quality of our work than the quantity of clients,” Anita shares.

“We believed that the best marketing is happy clients and successful projects. And that worked — clients started recommending us.”

Another part of our mission is training new marketing professionals. “As we grow, we invest in the next generation. Some students stay with us, others go on to work with our clients and partners. We remember what it felt like starting out — and how important it is to give young people a safe space to learn, make mistakes, and grow.”

A workspace that breaks routine

MATCH has been based at MŪKU SALA since day one. “We count our launch day as the day we moved into our first office on Dēļu Street 4. It was a small room with five desks, five chairs, and one window — and we had no idea yet if we’d make it,” Anita remembers.

“In three years, we’ve changed offices four times — all within MŪKU SALA. They’ve grown with us, offering spaces that matched our changing needs and budget.”

Like many companies, MATCH has embraced a hybrid work model. “We went to MŪKU SALA’s team and asked for something that fit us: a flexible office we can use when needed, with space for meetings and calls,” Anita says. “That’s how we found our current office on Dēļu Street 5 — a modern co-working space on the top floor of the Tele2 building. Now we’re neighbors with other growing businesses — IT companies, logistics firms, retailers.”

The shared kitchen, meeting rooms, and conference space make it a perfect match. “Even though we can work remotely, we often choose to come in. It boosts team energy and breaks the routine. The best ideas often come up during casual chats — something that rarely happens in scheduled Zoom calls.”

A community of professionals with shared goals

MATCH and MŪKU SALA share more than office space — MŪKU SALA was also one of the agency’s first clients. “They trusted us when we were just starting out, which meant a lot,” Anita says. “We began with a small pandemic-era campaign, a video series about working from home. Since then, we’ve worked together on all kinds of projects — and we’re proud to support their growth.”

When we started, MŪKU SALA wasn’t often mentioned in the media, and their social channels were quiet. We began with competitor and audience research and built a detailed communication strategy — getting to know not just the brand, but the whole business community around it.
During research, we discovered that many companies choose MŪKU SALA not just for the office space, but for the strong business network — including leaders like Tele2, Delfi, Bolt, Cognizant, and Civinity. This insight became the foundation for the entire strategy.

A strong strategy helps businesses reach — and often exceed — their goals. “As MŪKU SALA’s visibility grew, so did their inbound leads. It helped reduce the need for real estate intermediaries,” Anita explains. “Take the new ZEISS building — 85% of the space was leased before construction was even finished.”

With journalism backgrounds on our team, we treated MŪKU SALA like a niche media outlet — blending informative and entertaining content. The brand’s biggest asset, its community of tenants, allowed us to build something deeper than a typical ad campaign.

“We launched a multichannel strategy focused on people. We started with behind-the-scenes tours of the biggest tenants — like Bolt and Delfi — and began sharing insights and stories from the community. MŪKU SALA is now more than just a business center. It’s a space where professionals grow together.”
